Coaching Corner – 2017 Rising Star Award Winner: Alison Peverley

Being part of the student liaison sub-committee we had the opportunity to meet with the award recipient, Alison Peverley, to discuss with her everything that she has accomplished. Take a look!

How did you get Involved in MPI and when did you join?

I first heard about MPI while attending the Travel & Trade show with my placement at The Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists while I was attending Algonquin College for Event Management. I spoke with 2 student members who gave me a lot of really good advice about joining and told me all about the benefits of being a member. I then joined towards the end of my school year in 2015.

What committees/events were you involved in since joining?

The Awards and Recognition Committee was my first committee with MPI. In 2016 I started doing the Getting to know our Planners and Suppliers articles for the Publications Committee. I was on the Community Outreach Committee up until recently.

What do you get out of your involvement in MPI?

MPI Ottawa is a really great opportunity for networking and getting to know other industry professionals. Not only is it a great way to meet people but from my experience everyone is very supportive of each other and truly wants to see others in the industry succeed.

What are your plans/goals for your future involvement in the chapter?

I plan to continue my involvement in the chapter and see what opportunities are presented. I am currently very content with my involvement in the Gala Committee and Publications Committee and plan to continue with these committees and see what other challenges come my way.

What have you been up to since graduating and where are you working now?

After graduating from Algonquin College’s Event Management Program, I was lucky to start a short-term contract with the Canadian Pharmacists Association assisting in the planning of their annual conference. Following that, I spent what seemed like forever job searching. After a lot of hard work, things fell into place. I am now the Sales and Event Manager at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.
