At a time when corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a major focus for the global meetings industry, MPI Ottawa gives back to its community in many different ways.The Community Outreach Committee works with the Chapter and its members to organize fundraising activities for charity. Its major project is the MPI/CSAE Annual Charity Auction and Dinner. All the revenue from the auction goes to the Chapter’s local charity of choice, the Ottawa School Breakfast Program, whose mission is to provide funding for a healthy breakfast, program monitors and equipment in the Ottawa region’s schools. The Ottawa School Breakfast Program is also the beneficiary of the Chapter’s annual golf tournament.

The Committee also sells 50/50 tickets at Chapter events. All money raised goes to support Le Club des Petits Déjeuners du Québec de l'Outaouais, a program providing nutritious breakfasts in underprivileged areas throughout Québec.

At the December MPI event, the Committee holds its “Tape a Toonie to the Top of the Tin" campaign to gather food and donations for the Ottawa Food Bank.
